Hey there! Surely, it has been way too long since my last blog. Life has been chaotic and I'm navigating the best way I know how. One day and one moment at a time, letting God lead the way. Isn't it funny how we pray for increase and overflow and then when it starts happening, suddenly we are overwhelmed? Blessings and increase has been overflowing like a wild garden in my life over the last 20 some odd days and I felt as though I needed balance.
As I was driving the other day and I begin to ask myself and God, what is balance? Is it actually achievable? Or is it simply a desire to have control? By definition, to balance means to bring into harmony or proportion. It also means to equal or equalize in number or proportion. When I think of balance, I think of being able to do a multitude of things all at once. To me, it's a calendar, to-do list, reminder alarms, and discipline to stay on track. It's working, with just the right amount of pleasure and play time. It's serving others and also remembering to take time for self-care.
For God though, balance is trust, faith, and obedience. It's remembering him above all else, trusting his plan and will for our lives, believing in his word and promises, and letting him have complete control of our lives. Balance for God is freely living in full satisfaction with what he has for us. As I continued to study and seek clarity on balance, I was reminded of a few scriptures.
Matthew 6:33-34 ESV
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Proverbs 16:1-3 NLT
"We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.
Proverbs 16:9 NLT
"We can make out plans, but the Lord determines our steps."
As we close out this week and the month of July, I challenge you to relinquish your need to control every aspect of your life and truly trust God to give you all that you need in his perfect timing. Focus on his will and allow all else to fall into place.
