Lovin' Me

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

Hey there!

At this point, I think I deserve a reward of some sort, LOL! I have been consistently making time to share with you all what's on my heart. I slacked off for a little while, but I can't even front, I'm extremely proud of myself. Even in the midst of the busyness in my life, I am staying committed. *insert fist pump*

This week I wanna chat about choosing to love yourself first. I can recall many times in my life I didn't always love myself first. If I'm being honest, I feel like I've really come to grasp this concept over the last few months of this year.

As we live our lives in our many roles, somehow when it comes to ourselves we are last on the list. We show up in our careers, homes and communities, yet leave ourselves empty at the end of the day.

Next thing we know, we are suffering from burnout and longing for a moment to feel seen and loved. I was reminded to first love myself on yesterday as I was heading out to the grocery store. I grabbed a hoodie to wear that I purchased from a small business that says "FLY", first love yourself is what it stands for. So of course I went scripture searching and the Bible actually tells us that it is wise to love yourself.

It was in that moment that I remembered loving myself first takes intentionality. If I don't strategically make a plan to love me first, IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, LOL! So, I've decided to make an intentional effort to love me first, once a week. Whether that's setting boundaries on the conversations I have, creating time to read, a trip to Target or just a few hours of some much needed sleep. At minimum, I will love Rhonda first, weekly.

Will you join me? Will you set aside a plan to love on yourself? If once a week is a bit too much for you to begin with, try biweekly or monthly. Your future self will thank you. I'd love for you to share in the comments some ways you plan to practice self-love. I can't wait to read your input.

Scripture x Proverbs 19:8 NLT

...To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.

WAIT, the easy to read version (ERV) says: Be a friend to yourself; do all you can to be wise. Try hard to understand, and you will be rewarded.

WOAH!!! That be a friend to yourself hit HARD! Sheesh, we will save that for another day!

Have an amazing week!

Song: Lovin' Me x Jonathan McReynolds

.....now I know there were days I'd look at myself; I felt like less of a person compared to everyone else. But when I look in the mirror and don't like what I see, oh, I just thank you for always lovin' me...

XOXO,

Rhonda Nikole
