“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalms 34:18 NLT
There’s no imaginable pain like heartbreak. Most of us have been there before and know exactly what it feels like to cope with a broken heart. The most beautiful thing about heartbreak is knowing that it brings God close to us. Psalms 34:18 reminds us that he’s close to the broken-hearted and rescues those whose spirits are crushed!
Though it’s been a while since I’ve been heartbroken, this blog was written to encourage those of you living with a broken heart. I want you to know that God has not abandoned you. In fact, he is close to you and has promised to rescue you.
In this very moment, I want you to look at yourself in the mirror and declare the promises of God over your life. Speak them to yourself every single day, throughout the day, whenever you feel you need it most and even when you don’t.
Here are a few ways to declare his promises over your life.
1. Set a phone alarm to remind you to recite scripture (set as many or as little as you need for throughout the day).
2. Write scripture down on a notecard and carry it in your pocket or purse. At random times or times when you feel emotional, read it aloud.
3. Place scripture on your bathroom mirror and read it aloud each time you enter the bathroom.
4. Set your phone screensaver as scripture and read it aloud each time you pick up your phone.
Whatever you decide, I challenge you to keep God’s word in your heart and never stop declaring his promises over your life.
