Hey there lovelies! Welcome to September, my sweet friends. Is it just me or has the year flown by? It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the Holidays, yet here we are over halfway through the year, again. I am all here for Fall, football, pumpkin spice, scarfs, booties, and a nice crisp morning of fresh air, as Fall is definitely my favorite season.
As I began to get excited about Fall and all that September has to offer, in an instance I thought about the changing of the leaves on trees. Not only will they begin to change color, but they will also begin to fall and separate from the trees the closer we get to Winter.
Of course me being me, I was like, so God, what does this really mean? I went researching as I always do. I discovered that the color change happens because during the Summer and Spring, leaves serve as food factories necessary for the tree's growth. During the Fall and Winter, however, the leaves stop providing the the tree with the food it needs to grow. Wait, though it get better. As the leaves begin to change colors and fall it also leaves behind a "leaf scar".
Now, I'm really like what's that? The leaf scar is the proof left behind that at one point a leaf was there. The part that got me though is that in order for a leaf scar to be left a wound must close on the tree to stop the leaves from providing bad food nutrients!
Yikes!
It didn't take long for me to hear from God "what wound are you providing aid to that needs to close?" What change are you trying to avoid in an effort to hold on to leaves that can no longer provide you with what you need?
YIKES, again! I'm not sure about you, but that was more than enough for me to recognize the time has come for necessary change in our lives, too. Just as the leaves must fall, so must some people, places, and things in our lives. The same leaf that once gave you what you needed, could kill you if it stays connected!
Whew! Receive freedom in the changes that will soon take place in your life, my loves. If it leaves behind a scar, remember that it's only proof of God's saving grace in your life.
Spend a few moments in his word this week on the following scriptures:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT
"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven."
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"
Isaiah 43:19 NLT
"For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland."
