Get up and PRAY!

Hello my loves!!!

Here it is Wednesday morning and I decided it was time I jumped into Luke 22. As a woman of Permission World, we were challenged to study Luke 22. Permission World is a women’s group founded by one of my Pastors, Dr. Jackie Greene. Permission World encourages women to gain the life of God’s full permission. The life where you walk in the bold call to be the God created version of yourself.

Last week, I watched a video devotion on how God gave full instructions to his disciples as they prepared for the Last Supper in Luke 22. Our target verses were 7-13 and Pastor Jackie reminded us that in these verses Jesus not only instructed the disciples to do a thing, but he also gave them all the instructions they needed to fulfill his request. Though this was our discussion for the week, I continued reading and in doing so I heard God distinctly say from the passage in verses 40-46 , GET UP, and PRAY!

In the text the Last Supper was over and Jesus was preparing for his sufferings. This was the beginning of his last days on Earth. Betrayal was on the way. Denial was on the way. Mockery and beatings were on the way. Trial was on the way and lastly, crucifixion was on the way. Jesus knew all of this while he was in the Garden of Gethsemane and yet he PRAYED!

This week I am encouraging you my sweet supporters to pray through every day and moment. Pray over your family, friends, faith, finances, community, and the world at large. So much is on the way beyond 2020 and we need prayer more than we ever have before. In the words of Pastor Jackie, now is the time to SOAK IT in prayer. If Jesus did knowing all that was ahead of him, so can you with the unknown.

If you knew tomorrow was your last day alive would you pray? If you knew that you’d file bankruptcy next week would you pray? If you knew that Cancer was the diagnosis would you pray? Don’t wait my friends for the trial or tribulation, prepare for it now in prayer. Just GET UP and PRAY!

In your alone time this week, dive into Luke 22! I’d love for you to share some of your takeaways, too.

Luke 22:40-41 NLT: There he told them, Pray that you will not give in to temptation.” He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed.

vs. 44-46: He prayed more fervently , and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief. “Why are you sleeping” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you do not give in to temptation.”

Luke 22:40-41 TPT: There he told the apostles, “Keep praying for strength to be spared from the severe test of your faith that is about to come.” Then he withdrew from them a short distance to be alone. Kneeling down, he prayed.

vs.44-46 He prayed even more passionately, like one being sacrificed, until he was in such intense agony of spirit that his sweat became drops of blood, dripping onto the ground. When Jesus finished praying, he got up and went to his disciples and found them all asleep, for they were exhausted and overwhelmed with sorrow. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “You need to be alert and pray for the strength to endure the great temptation.”

After reading Luke 22 my spirit immediately began singing an old hymnal.

🎶...Just keep on praying for the Lord is nigh. Just keep on praying, he’ll hear your cry. For the Lord has promised and his word is true. Just keep on praying, he’ll answer you. 🎶

XOXOXO,

Rhonda Nikole
