All In!

Hey there! I pray that you are all doing well, staying safe and healthy. In November of 2020 God spoke to me about his will for me to be ALL IN in 2021 spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, and physically. The year 2021 is sure to be the year I walk one-hundred percent by faith. No distractions. No what-ifs. No second guessing. 2021 is my year of God's yes over any and every personal goal and desire.

Unbeknownst to me, ALL IN was also the message our Heavenly Father gave to my Pastors for our church's 2021 declaration. How amazing is that? In an effort to start the year off on the right track, we were encouraged to participate in a fast for 21 days. Corporately, over the past two weeks I've been committed to my church's 21 day fast of no meats, sweets, or social media. We've held a prayer call at 6am every morning since January 4th and I've logged off of Zoom each morning filled with inspiration, hope, knowledge, gratefulness, and increased faith.

As I sought the Father today for our blog of the week, he challenged me to challenge you all to join in with us. Through January 24th, I challenge you to lean further in to the Father's Word and corporately fast with us. Join us each morning at 6am for prayer using the Zoom link below.

If you've never fasted before, here's a summary of what fasting is and why we fast. Biblical fasting is the act or process of abstaining from food or distractions (for example, social media) for a God purpose and spiritual growth. The purpose of fasting is simple, to grow closer in intimacy with our Heavenly Father and to teach our flesh it's position.

While on a Biblical fast prayer and meditation should be your primary focus. In moments of cravings or desires read scripture and pray. I, myself like to enroll in different Bible plans on the Bible app so that I can read them at any point throughout the day on a specific topic. Ultimately, our goal is to walk away from our Biblical fast spiritually stronger and wiser.

I'd be remiss not to share that you can expect an attempt from the enemy to distract you from completing the fast, because his greatest desire is for you not to grow in Christ. In moments of temptation and extreme desire speak the Word of God over you until the temptation or desire no longer exists.

I pray that you'll join my Forward City Church family and I as we close out the end of our 21 day fast, ALL IN. Comment below if you'll be joining us, so I can be sure to cover you in prayer, too! Let's go!

Matthew 6: 16-18 “And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you."

1 Corinthians 10:13 "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure."

Matthew 4:4 "But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God."
