Access Denied

Fam! It's been a crazy week, but I was determined to not allow the new year to catch me without a blog post, so, here I am! Being the night owl that I am, it's not surprising that I've managed to find myself on my laptop after 10pm sharing what's on my heart. Better late than never, right?

As we prepare for the new year by strategizing goals and resolutions, I want to take a moment to remind you that access is earned, not given. If you're reading this blog, I can only assume that you're about your business as it relates to self awareness, accountability, growth and becoming an overall better person.

I can only believe that you're here because you know there's more waiting for you on the other side of your elevation and evolution. We've played it safe long enough by allowing any and every one access to our personal space, thoughts and social platforms (just to name a few). It's time to take inventory.

Quite frankly, we've worked entirely too hard, fasted, prayed and done the hard work of therapy, life coaching and mentorship to allow others who haven't earned their place in our lives. I'm sure by now you're like, girl, where are you going with this & what's your scripture reference?

Proverbs 4:23 NLT says "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life."

In order to guard your heart, you must first guard your space and in order to guard your space, you must deny some people access. Now, in no way am I saying arrive to a place where you believe you're "better" than others or that someone is "beneath" you, but I am saying to surround yourself with like minded individuals with like minded pursuits.

Guarding your heart means to be mindful of those around you. It means to give great consideration to those you're allowing to speak life into you. It also means, watching out for what you're allowing to influence your actions and character.

When considering who or what has access to your life, consider people who pour love back into you as you pour love out into their lives. Community that support you just as much as you support them. Songs, influencers, movies, podcasts and activities that pour inspiration, encouragement, motivation and the Word of God into your heart (like my blogs lol). Those who pray for you as much as you pray for them, because what you have inside of you is sacred, special and worth guarding.

As always, I pray this lands a place in your heart where you need it most. I can't wait to share with you what's on my heart next week. Happy New Year!

Song: King of my Heart x Bethel Music

....let the King of my heart, be the mountain where I run, the fountain I drink from, oh he is my song...
